After registering for Joy at Chong Zheng Pri, we toured the school. I realised that about 50% are malay and indians. Half of the school stalls are selling Muslim food. The school looks old. In a nutshell, I don't like the school.
So I decided to take a look at other schools. I saw Poi Ching Pri. The school has 3 big compounds for the students to play. It also emphasis a lot on character building such that every month they will have a theme e.g. honesty, integrity, excellence, etc. They also have 2 piano at the canteen for the students to play. I like the school. So I decided to withdraw Joy from the school secretly 'cos sure will get scolding for making such an irrational move. Then I registered her in Poi Ching Pri. To my dismay, we need to ballot for the 10 seats left. I pray that if this is the school for Joy, we will be blessed with a seat even though there are 10 seats left. I was quite cool about it... to the extend that I was so late on the ballot day that when I arrived, the ballot exercise was over. Well, the result was we were not successful in securing a seat. I was shocked and upset. Why did God not bless Joy with a vacancy? Stanley said "You think Poi Ching is the best school for Joy but God may think otherwise." I was still upset and grumble to God for many days. Interestingly, a few incidents happened. A friend called me out of the blue and told me her nephew who was from Nanyang Pri (the top pri sch in Singapore) scored 180 for PSLE. Then I interviewed a girl who studied in Poi Ching and dropped out of school looking for a job now. It is like God is telling me not to put my faith in the good school rather I should put my faith in Him.
I cannot go back to Chong Zheng now 'cos there is no more seat left. Haiz... So I registered Joy in Tampines Primary now.....Thank God, I didn't tell Joy which school she is going to. Otherwise she will ask me a thousand whys I change school for her.
Typical Singaporean Parents....heeee
